Springfield Lions, MLERF Employees Team up for "Blind" Pizza Party The Springfield Host Lions Club and MLERF employees provided a fun and educational event for a fourth-grade class at Delaware Elementary recently. The students were treated to a pizza party where they got to experience life from the perspective of a vision-impaired person. The children were paired with a partner, blind-folded and then led through the pizza line to get their drinks and pizza. "The activities were meant to show what it would be like to lose their sight," said Shelly Rasley, Springfield Branch Manager. "It was a fun event."

New Races Added to 2007 Ultramax Lineup Ultramax Events will be hosting two new events this year that will be a welcome addition to the triathlons for which Ultramax is known. A marathon and bike tour were added to the 2007 roster in order for participants to expand their summer fitness plans. Joker's Wild Half-Marathon will be held July 7 at St. Louis' Westport Plaza, "the party capital of St. Louis." The 13.1 mile run offers training plans for participants, full age group awards and a Vegas-style afterparty following the race. The Tour de Vine will be the second new event during the 2007 season. Held August 25-26, there are two riding options available for the tour. Riders will leave from either Columbia or St. Louis, and both groups will travel to Hermann. Meals, beverages and wine tasting will be provided in the trip package. If you are interested in volunteering for any Ultramax event, please contact Shandra Chapman at schapman@mlerf.org. |
